Tony Sbarra, a shareholder at Hermes Netburn, was featured as a main stage presenter at the 2020 DRI Asbestos Medicine Virtual Seminar this year. Serving as a main stage presenter at this annual event is an honor. DRI features attorneys who are well respected in the industry, experienced on their subject matter and knowledgeable in their respective fields. Tony spoke alongside LA Attorney Kelvin Wyles of Dentons. The two attorneys co-presented on the rapidly changing field of genetic testing. The presentation was entitled “These Are Not Your Father’s Evidence Battles: Recent and Recurring Disputes Surrounding Genetic Testing and Tissue Digestion.” The well-received presentation was part of a two-day virtual seminar, attended by over 500 asbestos defense attorneys and in-house counsel. Asked about the subject matter, Tony commented “genetic testing is becoming more and more important in mesothelioma cases, especially those involving little or no known asbestos exposures and those involving mesothelioma of the peritoneum. Discovery disputes surrounding this testing are challenging. Kelvin and I drew upon our lengthy experiences dealing with these issues to provide the audience with real life suggestions to successfully navigate them.”
