Hermes Netburn Attorney, Anthony J. Sbarra, Jr., Speaks On Voir Dire and Opening Statements at American Bar Association's 2014 Annual Meeting

8/11/14

(Boston, MA - August 11, 2014) The ABA Tort Trial and Insurance Practice Section presented a seminar entitled “Getting Off On The Right Foot At Trial: Voir Dire and Opening Statements” at its annual meeting on August 8, 2014 in Boston.  Tony Sbarra, Chair- Elect of the TIPS Product Liability Committee, was part of a panel that included judges from Boston and Alabama and trial attorneys from Georgia and Massachusetts.  The subject matter was particularly timely in light of the August 6. 2014 signing of Massachusetts House Bill 4123 by Governor Patrick, allowing attorney led voir dire in civil trials as of January, 2015.  In addition to general jury selection and opening statement strategies, Tony was asked to share his thoughts on the effect of the bill on future Massachusetts cases and also to share his experiences with jury selection in Rhode Island and Connecticut.
