Hermes Netburn Attorney, Holly M. Polglase, Named 2014 Defense Lawyer of the Year By The Massachusetts Defense Lawyers Association
(Boston, MA - April 22, 2014) Holly Polglase, a products liability attorney and shareholder at Hermes, Netburn, O’Connor & Spearing, P.C., has been named The 2014 Defense Lawyer of the Year by the Massachusetts Defense Lawyers Association. This prestigious award, given annually by the MassDLA, spotlights Holly’s long-term dedication to the law and her clients, as well as her outstanding leadership among the bar and her focus on professional standards and collegiality.
The Defense Lawyer of the Year Award is bestowed annually upon the defense lawyer whom the Association believes best demonstrates the ideals of the legal profession. For over 20 years, the MassDLA has annually recognized one leader in the defense bar who personifies the organization’s goals of improving the administration of justice, legal education, and professional standards and promoting collegiality and civility among all members of the bar. The MassDLA is the largest state-wide defense bar organization in Massachusetts. It is an association of volunteer trial lawyers who defend corporations, individuals and insurance companies in civil lawsuits.
In her practice, Holly Polglase acts as lead counsel in the defense and trial of complex product liability, pharmaceutical, medical device, toxic tort, asbestos, general liability and commercial matters. With twenty-four years of experience, she works as national and regional counsel for major national and multi-national corporations and manages a large regional docket of toxic tort cases for several companies. Holly is a frequent speaker and author on issues related to her civil trial practice and she has been active in both state and national bar associations. She served as a member of the MassDLA Board of Directors for many years before becoming its President from 2010-2011.
