Matthew Bown is an associate at Hermes, Netburn, O’Connor & Spearing, P.C. who concentrates his practice in the areas of litigation, product liability, insurance coverage, insurance law and professional liability. Matt works with clients to resolve disputes related to insurance coverage claims. He also handles professional malpractice matters in connection with commercial lending transactions. Matt’s clients include individuals as well as insurance companies and other businesses of all sizes.
Matt’s experience includes complex subrogation matters, toxic tort and premises liability, insurance coverage disputes, and allegations of financial misconduct.
Prior to joining the firm, Matt was an attorney at a Boston-area law firm where he concentrated his practice in civil litigation, insurance coverage, consumer protection and insurance defense matters. He handled a range of litigation regarding unfair and deceptive practices claims, as well as prosecuted complex civil RICO actions on behalf of national insurers.
Before becoming a lawyer, Matt was a wholesaler in the financial services industry. In this role, Matt obtained a unique business perspective of the financial industry and honed his strong communication and service skills. Matt is an approachable professional who prides himself in helping clients understand all of their options when resolving a dispute.
Successfully moved for Summary Judgment in favor of insurers in Massachusetts Superior and District Court.
Obtained Summary Judgment in favor of a national insurer in the United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida.
Obtained involuntary dismissal in favor of commerical automobile insurer against a large commerical automobile tow and recovery operator.
